The Basics | Pros and Cons | Is Calibrate Legit? | Customer Experience | Pricing | Eligibility | Website Experience | The Verdict

Calibrate is a telehealth company that offers a virtual, year-long weight loss program. This program involves a regimented series of activities, including lessons, goal-setting, and virtual training sessions, to help customers gradually change their habits and improve their metabolic health. In other words, the Calibrate program is a form of behavior therapy intended to promote weight loss.

Quick Basics

According to Calibrate’s site, their curriculum is based on decades of scientific research. They designed the program in tandem with a board of medical experts, focused on helping people achieve long-term, sustainable weight loss.

The curriculum is divided into four stages:

  • Level 1 is the learning stage, in which customers begin learning about the basic habits involved in metabolic health and meet with a coach every other week to set goals. It also entails reading three lessons per week. This makes up the first three months.
  • Next is Level 2: practicing, which makes up months three to six. At this point, users continue to implement those habits and meet with their coaching team. Likewise, you read one to two lessons a week.
  • At Level 3, the setting phase, users will continue along this path, refining their habits as they keep working with experts and choosing particular lessons to focus on. This level lasts from month six to month nine.
  • Finally, Level 4 consists of sustaining. At this point, the focus shifts towards ensuring that these new habits and lifestyle choices will stick, even after the program is finished. The curriculum remains similar, with bi-weekly coaching sessions and specified lessons.

As you can see, the Calibrate curriculum is gradual yet quite in-depth. Over the course of the year, customers get to check in with their medical team to ensure that they’re on the right track health-wise.

Moreover, their doctors may prescribe medications called GLP-1s (glucagon-like peptide-1s). According to Calibrate, these treatment methods should help customers lose at least 10% of their body weight (See Calibrate Terms).

If you’ve struggled to lose weight in the past, Calibrate may seem like the answer to all your prayers. Of course, as an intelligent consumer, you have to wonder: does it really live up to the hype?

Well, in this article, we’re going to address that question head-on.

Read on for all the details you should know about the Calibrate curriculum, pricing, reliability, customer experience, and much more.

Pros and Cons of Calibrate

These are a few of Calibrate’s most appealing features:

Pros
  • The Calibrate curriculum was crafted by a team of medical experts, based on years of scientific research.
  • Calibrate offers an effective weight-loss solution that is sustainable in the long-run.
  • The company offers excellent one-on-one support from doctors throughout the entire year-long program.
Cons
  • Calibrate is relatively expensive compared to its competitors.
  • The eligibility requirements of Calibrate prevent certain groups of people from joining.
  • Some users complain that the Calibrate app is not user-friendly.

Is Calibrate Legit?

One of the most prominent questions about any telehealth service is this: will this service really deliver the results it promises? And when it comes to weight loss, this question is especially relevant.

With so many fad diets and fleeting exercise trends out there, it’s inevitable that some of them (if not most) will turn out to be a scam. So, what about Calibrate?

In our experience, we’ve found that Calibrate is totally legit. Unlike “miracle” weight loss programs, Calibrate doesn’t promise that you’ll lose 30 pounds in a month.

Rather, they aim to help you achieve a realistic, sustainable goal. That’s just one reason to trust that Calibrate is the real deal.

Moreover, as we’ve already mentioned, the program is based entirely on clinical research. The company has worked with tons of doctors and experts to curate an effective and intentional curriculum.

Don’t just take it from us, though. Let’s take a look at some real customer reviews of Calibrate.

On reviews.io, Calibrate currently has a rating of 4.44 stars out of 5, based on 25 reviews. Likewise, 84% of customers recommend the company. This shows that a majority of customers have been more than satisfied with the services of Calibrate.

From our point of view, it’s reassuring to see that Calibrate users aren’t walking away feeling disappointed. Rather, the service lives up to its promises.

Here’s one review that speaks to the reliability of Calibrate:

“Calibrate has helped me to achieve weight loss when I was feeling very stuck. It is a well-rounded approach to reach and maintain the weight loss as well.”

— Jacqueline, reviews.io

Short, sweet, and to the point, this review (and many others) illustrate that, overall, customers tend to step away from Calibrate feeling very satisfied.

Customer Experience

Along these lines, let’s discuss another factor of equal importance: customer experience. Signing up for a weight loss program is about more than just losing weight.

You sign up to receive guidance, advice, and motivation. You want to be held accountable for your actions. You hope to finally achieve your weight loss goals not on your own, but with the help of experts.

These are some of the most significant reasons that a person might sign up for a weight loss program. So, how does Calibrate fare on this front?

For the most part, Calibrate provides an excellent experience for its customers. In fact, the one-on-one support is one of the most praise-worthy aspects of the company.

As we’ve already noted, the curriculum includes the opportunity to meet with your personal Calibrate doctor every other week.

We’re not the only ones who feel this way. Plenty of reviewers have had nothing but compliments for the customer experience of Calibrate:

“I have had a great experience with Calibrate so far! I am four month into the program. I have am consistently losing weight and changing some long held unhealthy life style habits! I have had very few side effects from the prescribed medications and feel very supported by my coach! I finally feel like I can reach my health goals!!”

—Sheryl, Google

“I’ve been using Calibrate for over a month. Here is the lowdown. This format is really working for me. The virtual doctor and coaching sessions are great. I feel 100% supported. No judgment, no hard selling. I’ve tried lots of programs. This is the one time I’ve felt totally in control.”

—Ruth, Facebook

“The Calibrate program is easy to follow and comes with the help of the village; from coaching to medical support, learning modules in various subjects, recipes, and ease of understanding, off-scale victories. The holistic approach that encompasses body/mind/food changed the way I think about my health – for the best. And my journey has felt effortless (though work is required), and success does require your desire for commitment to change and to the duration of the program. I cannot say enough positive things about the approach & the folks who are there for you (medical team/coach). Bravo!”

—Monica, reviews.io

These reviews illustrate the essence of the Calibrate program. With their supportive, attentive team of doctors, losing weight is so much easier.

Calibrate Pricing

At this point, you’re probably wondering why anyone would choose a weight-loss option other than Calibrate. It’s an effective, reliable program that seems to produce excellent results.

Of course, there’s one factor that stands in the way for many people, and that is pricing.

Attempting to lose weight without any extra help can be difficult, but it’s often far less expensive than signing up for a weight loss program of any kind. Unfortunately, services like Calibrate are fairly costly. And, when compared to similar weight-loss programs, Calibrate is one of the most expensive.

The One-Year Metabolic Reset program from Calibrate costs $138 per month. Alternatively, you can pay a one-time fee of $1,649.

This program entails all of the features we have been discussing, as well as a welcome kit of goodies and a video appointment with a Calibrate doctor.

This costs $249. It consists of a virtual appointment with a doctor to assess your current health, review your lab test results, and provide an overview of what the year-long program would look like for you.

On top of these costs, you may also have to pay for your prescribed medication. That cost will depend on your insurance policy.

Now, let’s compare these costs to one of Calibrate’s competitors. Take a look at Noom, a popular weight-loss and fitness service that offers similar programs.

Noom uses a psychology-based approach to help its users lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. This app costs $59 per month.

Of course, this is far less than Calibrate’s $138 per month cost. However, you must take into account the extra features that Calibrate offers, such as one-on-one consultations and the opportunity to receive a prescription for medication.

These features can be extremely helpful for people who struggle to stick with weight-loss programs and achieve long-term results. So, for many, the added cost of Calibrate is worth it.

Ultimately, there’s no denying that Calibrate is costly compared to other weight-loss methods. However, if you can afford the program, we truly believe it’s worth every penny. That money goes towards helping yourself achieve results that will last a lifetime.

Eligibility Range

Beyond the relatively high cost of Calibrate, there’s one more reason that someone may opt for a different weight-loss service.

Unfortunately, not everyone is eligible to join Calibrate.

As of now, Calibrate is only available to people from the ages of 18 to 64. Moreover, you must have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher (however, certain metabolic conditions qualify those with a BMI of 27 or above to join).

Finally, there’s a range of health conditions that may preclude a person from joining.

Beyond that, you can only sign up for Calibrate if you have commercial or employer-provided health insurance.

Eligibility for Calibrate now includes all 50 states.

Clearly, customers must meet a particular set of criteria in order to join Calibrate. Unfortunately, if you don’t fall within their eligibility range, you may need to seek out another weight loss service. This is one of the downsides of the program.

However, we do have some good news: Calibrate plans to expand their coverage nationwide very soon. So, if your current residence is the only thing stopping you from signing up, just wait—your time is coming!

Website and App Experience

Finally, we should discuss one aspect of the company that is absolutely essential to the overall experience—that is, their website and app.

Overall, the website is very easy to navigate. It’s packed full of useful information, complete with an extensive FAQ page.

They even provide an instant-messaging chat service that will answer any questions you may have as you browse the site. We give it a ten out of ten.

While the website is an essential resource for finding information and signing up, the Calibrate app becomes vital once you actually join the program.

It allows you to contact your doctor, access educational classes and content, set goals, and track your progress throughout the year-long program. It’s an extremely useful tool that makes the treatment process that much easier.

We have never had any issues with the app. For the most part, most Calibrate customers feel the same way. However, some users have claimed that the app is difficult to use. For example, one person left the following review:

“I love the one on one with the coach and medical team is there to answer any questions. I wish the app was a little more user friendly.”

—Brandie, reviews.io

Brandie still gave the company four out of five stars. So, clearly, her experience using the app didn’t turn her off to Calibrate entirely.

Nevertheless, be sure to note these complaints before signing up. You may want to check out the app for yourself before you commit.

Our Final Thoughts on Calibrate

As you can probably tell by now, we’re big fans of Calibrate. Apart from a few small complaints, we have nothing but good things to say about this weight-loss program. Although it does require a significant financial commitment, we think it’s totally worth it in the long-run.

Calibrate provides long-lasting results using an effective and safe curriculum. We’re totally here for it!
