Drug Information:
Striverdi (olodaterol) is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing muscles in the airways to improve breathing. Striverdi Respimat is used to control the symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Striverdi Respimat will not treat a bronchospasm attack that has already begun. Striverdi Respimat is for use only in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and should not be used to treat asthma. Warning

Inhalation route (Solution)

Salmeterol, a long-acting beta(2)-adrenergic agonist (LABA), has been shown to increase the risk of asthma-related death. This is considered a LABA class effect, and olodaterol is not indicated for asthma treatment.

Along with its needed effects, olodaterol (the active ingredient contained in Striverdi Respimat) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking olodaterol:

Incidence not known

  • Blurred vision
  • chest pain
  • convulsions
  • difficulty with breathing
  • fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  • fruit-like breath odor
  • hives
  • increased blood pressure
  • increased thirst or urination
  • large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  • muscle spasm or weakness
  • numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  • sweating
  • swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  • sudden shortness of breath
  • tightness in the chest

Some side effects of olodaterol may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  • Back or joint pain
  • bloody or cloudy urine
  • cough
  • diarrhea
  • difficult, burning, or painful urination
  • frequent urge to urinate
  • lower back or side pain
  • rash
  • runny nose
  • sneezing

-The most common adverse effect leading to discontinuation was worsening COPD.

-The most common serious adverse events were COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, and atrial fibrillation.

Common (1% to 10%): Diarrhea, constipation

Genitourinary

Common (1% to 10%): Urinary tract infection

Musculoskeletal

Common (1% to 10%): Back pain, arthralgia

Nervous system

Common (1% to 10%): Dizziness

Respiratory

Common (1% to 10%): Nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory tract infection, bronchitis, cough, pneumonia

Other

Common (1% to 10%): Pyrexia

Dermatologic

Uncommon (0.1% to 1%): Rash
