Drug Information:
Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic (peeling agent). Salicylic Acid causes shedding of the outer layer of skin. Urea is an emollient (skin softening agent). Urea helps to moisturize the skin. The combination of Salicylic Acid and Urea topical (for the skin) is used to soften and remove rough, scaly skin caused by warts, calluses, keratosis, or psoriasis. Salvax Duo Plus may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide. Do not use Salvax Duo Plus on a child younger than 2 years old. This medication should not be used on a child or teenager who has a fever, especially if the child also has flu symptoms or chicken pox. Salicylates can cause a serious and sometimes fatal condition called Reye's syndrome in children. Learn more

What are some side effects that I need to call my doctor about right away?

WARNING/CAUTION: Even though it may be rare, some people may have very bad and sometimes deadly side effects when taking a drug. Tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you have any of the following signs or symptoms that may be related to a very bad side effect:

  • Signs of an allergic reaction, like rash; hives; itching; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin with or without fever; wheezing; tightness in the chest or throat; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Very upset stomach or throwing up.
  • Ringing in ears.
  • Hearing loss.
  • Fast breathing.
  • Mood changes.
  • Very bad dizziness.
  • Feeling very tired or weak.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Skin irritation.
  • Redness.

What are some other side effects of this drug?

All drugs may cause side effects. However, many people have no side effects or only have minor side effects. Call your doctor or get medical help if any of these side effects or any other side effects bother you or do not go away:

  • Stinging.
  • Burning.
  • Itching.
  • Peeling.
