Along with its needed effects, electrolyte replacement solutions (the active ingredient contained in Rehydralyte) may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur while taking electrolyte replacement solutions:

Symptoms of too much sodium (salt) in the body

  • Convulsions (seizures)
  • dizziness
  • fast heartbeat
  • high blood pressure
  • irritability
  • muscle twitching
  • restlessness
  • swelling of feet or lower legs
  • weakness

Symptoms of too much fluid in the body

  • Puffy eyelids
