If you’re on a regular prescription for a medication you need, you already know that this is an unavoidable expense that you need to figure into your budget. A lifelong condition—either for yourself, or a family member—means that like a mortgage, or monthly utilities for heat or electricity, this is a necessary “fixed expense” and it’s not going to go away, it’s always going to be a part of your spending.
That doesn’t mean, however, that your only options for saving money on such purchases are hope that there’s some coverage from medical insurance. For many Americans, medical insurance may not cover the drugs they need, or the insurance itself simply isn’t an option. But there’s one solution to help with this, and it’s known as printable prescription drug coupons.
The concept of the coupon is nothing new, and for decades, many Americans have been taking advantage of this welcome shopping “assist.” A coupon is an official document—usually smaller in size, like a ticket—that can be presented to a retailer at the moment of purchase. Rather than pay the full off-the-shelf price for the item, the coupon, when presented, confers a reduction in the price.
Printable prescription drug coupons are just the 21st-century version of this idea. The same basic idea, however, is still at work. These coupons are official; an arrangement has been struck between the coupon producer and participating pharmacies that agree that, should they see these coupons, they will honor the discounts available under this coupon.
The big difference here is that, unlike coupons of old, people interested in taking advantage of these printable prescription drug coupons don’t have to request them from a business, or hope they arrive in the mail. Thanks to the digital age we now live in, it’s easy enough to go to a website, where a digital version of the coupon exists, and then print it out.
The great thing about printable prescription drug coupons is you can print out as many as you need, or, in some cases, you don’t need to print them out at all! Sometimes all it takes is having the coupon on your phone, as a digital image, and showing that off, and the coupon will still be honored!
