How Many Americans Are Still Unaware About Obamacare

With the passage of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, many new opportunities for health care arose for individuals all across the nation. However, recent studies have found that most people don't fully understand how Obamacare works. Under this new health care law, an individual is given a choice of several private health insurance plans, and the government can subsidize the premium.

New tracking polls state that a majority of Americans don't understand if Obamacare plans are private or government sponsored. They also developed an unfavorable view on the health care legislation, meaning that the law is becoming less liked than ever before. That's unfortunate, since the law was passed to provide better opportunities for Americans who were previously uninsured or paying too much in premiums.

There are also a lot of poor people in states across the country, who are still unaware of the options provided in Obamacare. This includes states that heavily embraced the bill as well as ones that did not. States like Kentucky, who championed the bill in 2010 by expanding Medicaid and running its own insurance marketplace, have nearly half their poor people stating that have heard little about the legislation. On the other side of the spectrum, states like Texas and Arkansas, who heavily opposed the bill, have even worse rates of unaware individuals. This lack of knowledge about the application process is a tough pill to swallow because most of these people would probably enjoy signing up and reaping the benefits of the program. There must be an effort made to spread awareness about this act, since medications and prescriptions are as costly as ever.
