Healthy People Still Need HealthcareThe acceptance of the Affordable Healthcare Act has left many Americans frustrated with feeling of expectations. At USARx, we also like to remind individuals that they do still have freedoms and choices, even with the advent of these healthcare changes.

Generalized Understanding Of ACA

The basic tenet that most citizens understand about the ACA, is that they are now legally required to have health insurance. However:

  • Many healthy individuals opt to pay the fine – it is still an option to not have insurance and simply pay the penalty. For some people, this is actually more cost effective than maintaining insurance that is rarely used.
  • Individuals can still opt in to insurance even after the open enrollment – this can still become an issue with partial penalties and may not qualify individuals for subsidies in the states that are supporting this approach, but it still provides a further option if health conditions change.
  • Opting out of insurance coverage can still mean a person qualifies for exemptions – different factors such as hardship, including income, health, employer insurance limitations, and even incarceration can preclude individuals from penalties for not having health insurance.

It is important to remember that while the ACA is instituting legal changes to the healthcare industry, it is not actually precluding individuals from the freedom to still make active choices about their wellness services and coverage.

Intermittent Healthcare

Remembering that there are choices can also aid people who are generally in good health and do not require extensive insurance coverage. For many of these individuals, there may be medication costs that are associated with sporadic illnesses like a case of the flu or accidents that may also require temporary prescriptions. The further option of a pharmacy savings card can provide the necessary support for this type of care.

Our USARx pharmacy discount card is not an insurance program, but is actually a discount network that is based on industry agreements for the affordability of medications.
